Kerth Gumbs

Kerth Gumbs is one of the most exciting chefs working in the UK. Hailing from the Caribbean Island of Anguilla, Kerth was previously Head Chef at highly acclaimed restaurant Ormer Mayfair, before taking on the role at the gastro-centric Boiler & Co. restaurant and bar. Kerth trained as a chef in London and has racked up over 18 years of experience working for world-class establishments, including Michelin-starred restaurants, hotels, brasseries and celebrity chef projects.

After graduating from Le Cordon Bleu in 2004, Kerth started his career in one of London’s iconic Sir Terence Conran Restaurants before working with top chefs such as Tom Aikens and Joël Robuchon, where he opened London’s first L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon restaurant. In 2011 Kerth moved to Singapore, joining Jason Atherton’s new venture Esquina, before going on to launch another sister project, an experimental cafe and cocktail bar called The Study. After two years in Asia, where he learned new flavours and techniques, Kerth took on a Senior Sous Chef role at The Arts Club in London. He also worked for London’s most successful restaurateurs, Chris Corbin and Jeremy King, and he also held a position at a five-star Hilton Hotel and opened a pop up at the Four Seasons Resort.

In 2016, Kerth played a major part in the launch of Ormer Mayfair as Head Chef, where his cooking was highly praised by diners and the press for its outstanding seasonal menu. Since the launch, Ormer was voted 5th best restaurant in London and 14th in the UK in The Harden’s top UK restaurant guide as well as the proud winner of The Best Luxury Restaurant in London for 2019.

His TV work includes being crowned champion of the London and South East region and making it to the national finals of BBC2’s Great British Menu 2020. In 2022 he was announced one of the new judges for BBC3’s brand new Young MasterChef, on air in 2023.
